INGREDIENTS: Decreased ability to think, control emotions, manage your life; may also include memory and concentration problems, confusion, sleep disorders, muscle weakness, anxiety, lack of motivation, panic attacks and depression; inert ingredients include pain disorders, lower or upper respiratory problems and personality changes.
No one would use a product with these ingredients!
Wait a minute… All I did was look up the most common neurological EFFECTS of an “ingredient” in most household cleaners, personal care products like shampoo and soap, and perfumes. Sometime these symptoms show up right away, with others it is after many years of exposure. It can progress to Multiple Chemical Sensitivity, or MCS, which is basically chemical poisoning from many sources in the environment.
The mystery ingredient is “fragrance.”
Fragrance is everywhere and in everything. It is covered under the “trade secrets” of a company, so it is a mysterious concoction that the company does not have to reveal. However, it is easy to do a search of the basic ingredients in most scents.
Most immensely tiny molecules that reach the olfactory bulb, the smelling sense organ in the nose, are perceived as smells. The olfactory bulb is directly linked to the brain. The only one of the five senses to bypass the prefrontal cortex which handles reasoning, it directly affects us on an emotional level. Smell was given to us to help our survival: We instinctively back away from foul-smelling things.
Problem: Danger now lies in what we perceive as GOOD smelling things, or at least in the copy-cat, laboratory-produced, synthetic/artificial fragrances that actually do all the harm that is mentioned above. Sometime these symptoms show up right away, with others it is after many years of exposure. It can progress to full-blown Multiple Chemical Sensitivity, or MCS, which is basically chemical poisoning from many and varied sources in the environment.
